Digital Detox at the Hotel der Löwe

How to switch off

Regular downtime is good for you, creates clarity, and replenishes your energy reserves. But it's not that easy to switch from hectic everyday life directly into Zen mode. Accompanied by the constant ringing of your cell phone, finding peace is even more difficult. If you're turning on the TV and checking the news as an alternative to meditation, we recommend this blog post, including tips for being more unavailable. So that you can truly switch off!

Tips for switching off

Even if it's difficult, those who focus more on the real world again experience life much more intensely. The more often they turn off digital tools, the easier it becomes – I promise!

1. Go offline into nature:
Enjoy a hike without taking photos, explore the forest offline, or stroll along the stream and listen to the sound of the water instead of the sounds from your headphones. Just smell, hear, and feel nature.

2. Use your smartphone and other devices consciously:
For sending vacation photos or finding the most beautiful bike tours, our electronic companions are a true asset. There are better options for passing the time when you're bored!

3. No electronics in the bedroom:
No more answering messages until you close your eyes and wake up with your laptop on your lap. Banish your devices from the bedroom and truly unwind in the evening.

4. Get a wristwatch:
Not a smartwatch, but a classic wristwatch will tell you the time just as reliably as your phone. Our extra tip: Time doesn't matter on vacation anyway!

5. Digital downtime:
Plan your offline time and stick to it. Especially in the morning and evening, you won't be dependent on electronic devices. If you're a bit more experienced, you can turn off your smartphone and other devices from early evening onwards. You won't regret it!

Healing through inaccessibility

It's not for nothing that they say "There is strength in calmness." In today's world, networking and multitasking are the order of the day. If you want to do something good for your body and, above all, your mind, you should strive for inaccessibility and grounding. Focusing on the here and now and simply being is a state that many have forgotten. Yet this is precisely what is so important for feeling yourself and experiencing life in all its fullness.

Going offline is the first step here. Only then can attention be refocused on the real moment. Those who regularly celebrate digital downtime not only live more consciously, but can also relax more quickly and regenerate better.
